Livio Internet Radio Featuring Pandora

Review

If you are tired of the busy air over the limited radio playlists, lack of diversity, endless commercials and spotty. If you do not want to pay a monthly subscription for satellite radio, or whether you want the sound in the world, without the disadvantages of short wave you need Internet radio. With thousands of choices you will find the content that matches your needs. While you may hear on your computer a better choice WiFi radio. I chose the Livio radio with Pandora.

First, Why 4Stars and not 5? Because initial setup is poorly documented and confusing. But their customer service helpful and even first facility was completed I have had no problems.

Livio The radio is well made. It looks like a radio and quality table has a heavy solid feel. The black casing is thick plastic with a matte finish to minimize fingerprints and smudges. The face is white with a heavy clear plastic screen overlay of the graphic. I think the overall effect of attractive.
The left side of the face through the speakers that are protected by a metal grill is dominated. It provides a 3 1 / 2 inch cone. More about sound later. The display is blue to violet in the upper right corner. The brightness can be adjusted separately in each of its various modes, active, inactive and standby. When the radio is off the time display with large easy to read numbers in 12 or 24 hour format. It receives its time from the Internet and looks to me to beas accurate as my remote-controlled "atomic" clock. It has an alarm function, but oddly enough, does not have a sleep timer or off mode. When the radio on the display shows the station play a song or program if they are supplied by station, time and signal strength. I find it difficult at all to read very far from the radio. Below the display are six small buttons. Three of them are designed with Pandora, thumbs up, down, and skip. The other three are power, fav and back. The back andFAV-buttons are associated with the large button, the front units were used. This aa great combo knob for volume, tuning used, and navigating the menus. The last item on the front is a headphone jack.

The back of the radio has inputs for the power supply, stereo out, aux-in and Ethernet. There is no battery option, so this can not be considered a portable. The stereo-Out is a mini-jack, but a thoughtful mini-jack to RCA plug adapterwhat this does to your stereo hooking a snap. The stereo-out volume controlled not by the volume control on the front. You can also by the built-in speaker, if your radio to a stereo hooked. I have not used my wireless Ethernet functions as well. They do supply an Ethernet cable if you need or want to go that way. With the Aux-in you on your MP3 player, CD's or other devices to listen through the Livio.

The Livio comes with a small, remotefrom which you can access all functions of the radios with the addition of 5 presets. I must say, it does not seem to be very strong that you need to pretty much to the radio and not too far away for the remote control to work.

I find the sound quality acceptable given the limitations of a small speaker. There seems to be true more for the spoken word rather then music. It reminds me of the sound that you get from a small table, the radio, what it is. When IUse this primarily for playing music that I connected a series of cheap Creative Inspire T3100 speakers. These are small computer speakers with a subwoofer. This dramatically improves the sound. I have a different WIFI radio to the same connected speakers without as good a result. The unit had an underlying hum that listening to boring. I understand that none of the Livio. In all for about $ 200 (radio and speakers), I have a compact sound system that sounds good and may in the melodyWorld.

This is my second WiFi or Internet radio. My first is the Com One Phoenix several years ago that I bought CompUSA when they went out of business. Why do I buy a second radio, if the first is working well? Two reasons, first I wanted to be able to listen to Pandora. Second, the portal from which I could be received for the Phoenix-owned stations that company. Since I purchased the radio, it seems that they leave the product. While for compliance with thePortal up I'm worried that at some point my radio and I will be orphans with the left one funny-looking brick. The portal is Livio's Reciva. As more manufacturers are using this portal, I feel safer that I come to the content for years. The last thing I heard Reciva has registered about 16,000 stations. Fortunately, they are separated by genre, country of origin, etc. They can be searched by keyword. All this can be established on Livio without the need of a computer navigation to be done by theMenus and the search for stations is quite intuitive with the main controller and the other three keys, but I find it easier to do this from Reciva's website. Once you have determined that you stops you can make it a popular and want to be called up quickly using the FAV button. From the Reciva website, which you can organize themselves, they can be in folders. As before mentioned, you can assign five presets on the remote. This can either be preset radio station or your Pandora stations. Favorites can not be PandoraStations. This is ok but like Pandora has its own special menu.

I gave the Livio Radio 4 stars. It could have been five except for the first device. Like I said, I own a different brand, and I read a lot of reviews and specifications for several others. The Livio was my choice for a replacement. Not the cheapest but a good value. Because these devices are almost impossible to store in a brick and mortar and more difficult to find even to compare side by side, I hope this review helpful.

Review

I really enjoy my Grace radio but, even though the technology is amazing that he have the product user-unfriendly some glitches.

For example, if you want to repeat it "use podcasts" (pre-recorded webcast) of the shows, while a "factory reset" the Grace radio count each time you want to get a new batch of your favorite shows. The "Factory Reset" is only one option that you on the radio the setup menu – the radio does not need to be sent to the factory. . . Anyway, the factoryReset takes about 10 minutes, but usually does the trick.

Boot-up to take the radio usually at least five minutes and, like any computer, the boot-up is not always successful and sometimes must be repeated. So not only rely on the power up and vote on your favorite station.

The sound quality of the equipment is poor, comparable to a run-of-the-mill clock radio.

However, in a position to thousands of stations from around the world to hear amazingand the grace of radio is you can certainly do this if you wear with its margins.

Sonos S5 ZonePlayer Wireless Multi-Room Music System

Review

I own two Logitech Squeezebox and Sonos systems. I bought a Squeezebox Duet for the first time in the late 08th I then bought a SB Radio in October 09 I bought them from the Sonos S5 was – or at least before I knew it. I bought the S5 about a week ago. I am happy with both systems, but if money is not the problem, I do not think can beat Sonos. Perhaps the simplest comparison is between the S5 and the SB Sonos Radio. Both are stand-alone units require only a networkConnection. People who mention the SB Radio always, that the sound quality much better than it is expected to own. I agree with that – but it does not compare with the Sonos S5. The latter device is really in my head still out. Now it should be clearly much better than the SB Radio. The list price of the latter 199th The list price of the S5 is twice as high. In addition, if you want to connect wirelessly, you must purchase a Zone Bridge to the S5 work – another $ 99.00.But again, if the money is not the problem of the S5 wins hands down. Setup in general, is also very easy with the Sonos system. The user experience is generally excellent.

I have had experience with the support of both companies. Sonos is excellent – fast, efficient, easy to obtain, and highly professional. Squeezebox supports, in my view is not bad – but you will certainly be on "hold" longer than the Sonos people. Content, however, my only experience withSqueezebox phone support was very good – the rep solved all my problems (although not entirely trivial) in a single call.

I think we are very happy, this type of systems to choose from. When you click the geeky and / or money is an important consideration slim, Squeezebox can be the answer. For an awesome out-of-box experience and excellent sound self-contained unit, is the Sonos S5 of my choice.

Feature

  • Room-filling, ear-impressing sound with 5 speakers powered by 5 dedicated digital amplifiers
  • Internet connected for unlimited music
  • Control with your iPhone or iPod touch with a free App Store download
  • Expandable system makes it easy to add more S5 players without wires
  • Simple to set up and easy to use

Overview

The reason Sonos works so flawlessly all over the house is because we designed a complete multi-room music system from the ground up. From the flexibility of our ZonePlayers to the ubiquity of our Controllers, no other company gets multi-room music like we do. Our system lets you play the same song in every room with perfect synchronicity. Or you can play different songs in different rooms and please everyone in the house.

VortexBox 1TB Automatic CD ripping NAS

Review

I had a collection of about 400 CDs in FLAC format on an old PC, the host was the room and make noise. I looked around for a replacement and found the Vortexbox. It was one of the painless setup of this kind of hardware I have seen for a long time. Unpack, connect, power on and ready. Both my PC (an XP desktop, a laptop, Vista) and both Squeezeboxes immediately recognized the box and minutes later I was copying my music to the Vortexbox. I'm it for the storage ofVideos, photos and documents. It converted all my MP3s FLACs for me, I showed it to iTunes so I can easily transfer my music to my iPod and iPhone. Finally, I put in a USB hard drive and uses the Web GUI to start a backup of all of this data.
So far I am very satisfied and impressed with this device the software. It can guess from any PC (or Mac I will be operated) by the Web GUI and file drag and drop.
It runs on Linux so familiar to those, you can use a terminal program and logTinker away. I wrote some scripts to organize files, manage tags, album art, etc.

In addition, rip CDs automatically Just the one in the drive, and it starts the process.

Very useful if you are looking for a small and simple to use device for the media and use data to serve. It is on a shelf in the bedroom, discreetly and quietly, is the fan barely audible, certainly not disturb us while sleeping.

Feature

  • 1TB of Storage with Gigabit Ethernet for fast data transfer
  • Compatible with nearly all digial audio players. (Squeezebox, iTunes, Sonos, WMP, XBMC, etc)
  • Automatic CD ripper (MP3 and FLAC)
  • Works with Logitech SqueezeBox automatically
  • Low power, draws only 25W. Small size 12 x 2.5 x 10.5 inches (WxHxD)
